Stay informed about earthquakes

MyShake is a free earthquake warning system utility created by the UC Berkeley Seismological Laboratory and is sponsored by the California Governor's Office of Emergency Services. It's a lifestyle companion that sends out statewide earthquake alerts in California, Oregon, and Washington

MyShake sends earthquake early warnings to phones in light-to-heavy shaking areas in California, Oregon, and Washington for earthquakes with estimated magnitudes of 4.5 and higher. Only damaging events will trigger alerts, not all felt events. By having this app, you can stay updated on earthquakes as they happen to allow you to prepare and possibly evacuate.

Be vigilant

MyShake uses Homebase to set a default alert location and notification, allowing you to prepare, survive, and recover with earthquake alerts for large damaging quakes. It also enables you to set up custom notifications to be notified when your loved ones are affected by a quake, giving you one less thing to worry about during this very damaging and unplanned disaster.

You can also help scientists study and predict upcoming earthquakes by becoming a citizen scientist and measuring earthquake motion. Following an earthquake, you can also share your experience with others; it'll ask you questions such as how strong the shaking was, and so on, allowing them to track the epicenter of the earthquake accurately. It assists you in becoming earthquake-prepared and aids your community in preparing for the next earthquake.

This useful app is available in both English and Spanish, allowing it to reach a larger audience and assist them in preparing for earthquakes. Some users complain that the app's alert tone is hushed and cannot be heard. Others complain that they give the coordinates of the location where the earthquake occurred rather than just the name, making it difficult for users to pinpoint the exact location where it occurred.

In Softonic we scan all the files hosted on our platform to assess and avoid any potential harm for your device. Our team performs checks each time a new file is uploaded and periodically reviews files to confirm or update their status. This comprehensive process allows us to set a status for any downloadable file as follows:

Clean

It’s extremely likely that this software program is clean.

What does this mean?

We have scanned the file and URLs associated with this software program in more than 50 of the world's leading antivirus services; no possible threat has been detected.

Warning

This software program is potentially malicious or may contain unwanted bundled software.

Why is the software program still available?

Based on our scan system, we have determined that these flags are possibly false positives.

What is a false positive?

It means a benign program is wrongfully flagged as malicious due to an overly broad detection signature or algorithm used in an antivirus program.

We’d like to highlight that from time to time, we may miss a potentially malicious software program. To continue promising you a malware-free catalog of programs and apps, our team has integrated a Report Software feature in every catalog page that loops your feedback back to us.
